Shikai Form

The Shikaiis the second form available to a Zanpakutō. To activate it, the Shinigami needs to learn the name of their Zanpakutō. This is where a shinigami gains unique abilities. In order to obtain this form you must be seated and have trained to obtain your shikai form

Passive Abilities

A passive ability is an ability that needs no command. This can be a unique property you gain when entering shikai form.

Passive Ability I
The first passive ability given

Passive Ability II
The second passive ability given. If you choose not to have a second one your first one will be enhanced (IE better stat enhancement or a more powerful unique property.)

Active Ability

These abilities would need a command to use. Example Rukia's Some no mai, Tsukishiro

Active Ability I
Often the most basic ability and easiest to use in shikai with often the lowest reiatsu cost.

Active Ability II
These are more complex then the first ability and use more reiatsu.

Active Ability III
These are usually the last resort and most powerful shikai ability and use the most reiatsu.

Bankai Form

Bankai is the final upgraded form of a Zanpakutō. To achieve it, one must be able to materialize their Zanpakutō's spirit in the real world and subjugate it, giving the Shinigami full reign over the zanpakutō's power. The third and final form of a zanpakuto. This form brings out much more devistating abilities and increases a shinigami's strength by a factor of 10. 5th Seat and up have this form

If you gained new clothing or a new appearance. This isn't if your physical appearance doesn't change.

Bankai Passive Abilities

Passive Ability I
The first passive ability you get.

Passive Ability II
The second passive ability you get. Once again if you choose not to have a second one your first one will be enhanced .

Active Ability

Active Ability I
Often the most basic ability and easiest to use in bankai with often the lowest reiatsu cost.

Active Ability II
Once again these are more complex and destructive then the first ability and use more reiatsu.

Active Ability III
These are usually the last resort bankai ability and are used to try and take out your opponent in one attack by using all remaining reiatsu.
